A balanced life according to the Word of God inspired to Apostle Paul in Colossians 1:10 which says,”That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God”. In this verse, Apostle Paul is bringing us to the understanding of God’s will for our lives. He prayed that you are to walk in the way of true righteousness, pleasing in all that you do, fruitful and productive as you mature in the rich experience of knowing Him in His fullness.
God wants your life to be fruitful in every good work. With this fruitfulness,He wants you increasing in your full, exact and experiential knowledge of Him. This is what is called “A balanced life”. The life of ever – increasing glory, that is all – round success. In this life you are making good progress in your work, your family is doing fine, your children are growing up strong in faith and in righteousness, and at the same time, you are increasing in the knowledge of God.
God’s will for you is to prosper in all things, and excel in all your endeavours. His prosperity for you,is all – encompassing: He wants you to prosper materially, physically and spiritually. The scripture 3 John 1:2 reveals God’s desire for everyone of His children. Let’s see some of the operative words in this verse. First,it says,”Beloved,I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper……” This refers to material prosperity. Secondly,it says,”….. and be in health…..”,this refers to the prosperity of your physical body. God wants you to enjoy divine health, twenty – four hours a day, three sixty – five days a year and three sixty – six on leap year.
Then thirdly,it says,”…..even as thy soul prospereth”, which means that your material and physical prosperity should follow your spiritual prosperity. The work for your material, physical and spiritual prosperity were consummated when Jesus died and rose triumphantly back to life. This therefore means that as a Christian, you are not supposed to remain poor, sick or be spiritually ineffective. The life that has been made available to you in Christ is a balanced one. It is a life of victory in the world.
Your soul prospers as you receive the word of God and lay it up in your heart, then fix your gaze on God and set aside the weight of sin that has beset you. God gave Joshua the key to God’s kind of prosperity in Joshua 1:8 which says,” This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest to observe to do according to all that is written therein, for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, then thou shalt have good success”.
As you meditate on God’s Word all the time and observe to do it, you will have good success. The word good success means it is not the World kind of success but God’s kind of success.
Job 22:22-24 also gives some insight into this balanced life. In these verses,it shows that you must receive the word, lay it up in your heart, return to Him and put away iniquity (sin) far from your house. Then, you you will surely lay up gold as dust and continually enjoy success and prosperity, God’s way. Then Job 22:25 proves that He ( God) will defend you and everything that belongs to you.
Everyone who is born again has been called into a life of peace and prosperity. In Isaiah 26:3 the term” perfect peace” is from the Greek word” shalom”,shalom which literally means”peace”. This means “peace with prosperity” or “peace with rest of mind”. God’s plan for you is total prosperity with peace of mind to enjoy it. From this scripture it is deduced that the only requirement that the scripture gives you to live this life of peace and prosperity is that your mind should be stayed on the Lord. The Bible says,”my son, attend to my words, incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart” (Proverbs 4:20-24). That means you give your attention to God’s Word; you station your mind on Him alone. As long as your mind is stayed on the Lord, God will keep you in prosperity with rest of mind everyday.
Prosperity with rest of mind is that which belongs to those who have arrived at the place of complete trust in the Lord. They are the ones who understand the scripture that says,”……He that is entered into his rest,he also hath ceased from his own works,as God did from his”,(Hebrews 4:10). God has called you into a life of peace with prosperity; and He has brought you into a place where there’s no struggles and no stress. Keep God’s word firmly in your heart and in your mind. Look away from everything else that distracts you, and look unto Jesus. As you do this; rest of mind will be your daily experience.
The knowledge of God is very important for every child of God. The Bible says,” Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord”.(2Peter 1:2). Do you want more grace in your life and peace multiplied unto you? Then go for the knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ.
God does not want you deficient in any area of your life. In Colossians 1:11; Paul declared that “you be strengthened with might according to God’s glorious power, unto all patience and long suffering with joyfulness”. You can be very fruitful, productive, and strong. God wants your life to be balanced; and you can actualize His desire in your life by walking in the knowledge of His Word!
